Genre Mixing

Took some time off for my birthday. Alot of time. And I happened to hear one of my favorite songs of all time. And this happens to be Garth Brook's "Low Places". Love it, and I couldn't help but to sing it out loud with my friends when it came on. Then I went and won a game of Wii Bowling at the bar when it was over. It was a great night. But it got me thinking, I wonder if there is any new country artists coming out that might be worth my time... hm Probably not. I noticed Jason Aldean is coming to the New Port at OSU pretty soon. I might have to catch that concert..I have yet to go to the NP MH since i've transfered here. Couple bands have come that i've considered. About 5 million people were lined up for One Republic, i wonder if someone told these people that Timbaland was NOT part of the group. They were just on his cd. Timbaland has made a couple of non hip hop bands kind of famous on his new album. This is what i like the most, the blending of the genres. I think it goes well, it semi- started with Linkin Park and Jay-Z. I used to listen to that before every soccer game in college...it got me pumped i wont lie to ya. I've seen nelly mix with tim mcgraw hiphop/country. It was alright, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. I wonder if music has hit a wall an there is only so far you can take it. When we're like 50 and our kids are listening to stuff what will it be. Will they really play Gin and Juice on like oldies 100.7?? I think it's semi hilarious. They will probably need one station per genre for "oldies" in about 20 years. There will be so many collaboration's between genre artists that we wont even have a Genre anymore.

Glow In the Dark

I tried to see if Kanye West's Glow in the Dark tour was coming anywhere near Ohio or NC... Nope. Oh well, the picture is still cool. And i still laugh at the Short Circuitz spoof on him fighting George Bush over his comments about Katrina. Comical, it was on MTV a year ago or so. This poster for the tour, shades of Star Wars?? Maybe? I think its sick, I want one for my lonely wall next to my Wayne Rooney Manchester United Jersey and to the right of my McDonalds/Ohio State Banner.

So... The chick who won all these Grammys the other week. The one I didn't know about..WEll, she has proved to be very interesting.

After reading up on her she pretty much does what she wants when she wants to. I didn't know she had all this legal trouble and stuff. Its pretty funny, and I guess its interesting to see someone becoming so popular do some pretty stupid stuff.
FOR EXAMPLE:
She's gotten arrested for cannibus, I guess a couple times. Haha, no suprise
Her husband is in on it too, I guess he and his buddies tried payin off or "intimidating" a bartender in London "Perverting the Court of Justice" Hilarious. She's turned herself in to police as well. Rehab needs, blah blah. The list goes on and on. I couldn't begin or end it in time.
The best thing is that she is going to channel Bob Marley into her music now, by working with his son Damien. Is she sure its musically? Or does she just plan to maybe inhale too deep a couple times. This girl cracks me up, I'll probably keep the t.v. channel idle if she's ever on it and I see her. She seems way too entertaining.

By the way i dont even know what MTV U is... It doesn't come with Time warner, I know that much. IT must just play in the dorms or on campus..kinda un-fair because it seems like it represents what MTV used to be. Music Television. Not just another outlet for realty TV.. I dont mind some if it. Rob and Big is freakin Hilarious. But sometimes those shows get repetitive and become laughing stocks. I guess if it makes money, so be it. I wonder if its like the NFL Network and BIg Ten Network, TIme warner refuses to carry some channels, its pretty messed up. Next year AT&T is providing services and its cheaper...I'm definitely hittin that up.

Matt White, on MTV U

So I'm working out in the gym, and they usually play that Mtv-U Channel in the J.O. South. I notice an artist that has the name of one of my best friends from home. Matt White, apparently he's got some kind of record deal and has a music video on MTV. Yeah probably one of the most common generic names on earth but oh well. I couldnt hear anything, I had my Ipod on....listenin to GOOD music. But i made a mental note to sit down and listen to a bit of this "Matt White" so I could criticize it myself. Okay, after listening to Matt White character..I will semi bite my tounge. It's not bad stuff, but he kind of sounds a bit like Gavin Degraw, and he got annoying as hell after a while. They killed his Chariot song, they beat that crap to death. Then picked up and beat it again.. Thankfully I haven't heard it in a while. But...I can listen to a few songs of Matt White.. it Aint THAT bad. I checked him out on Imeem, but i only found two songs.

Bigg Head todd @ Newport?

So, I was driving down High Street and I saw a sign for Big Head Todd and the Monsters, coming to Newport Music Hall here at the OSU campus. I decided to listen to a song. I haven't heard of them..and frankly the name of their band..I just wanted to say what?
So I listened to a song and looked up a picture to see if he really had a big head and if the band looked ghoulish or something...or....if it was just b.s. The music turned out to be pleasant, with piano and I just cant describe it. Like something out of an early 90's film or t.v. show. I could see the song being played on an episode of Saved by the Bell or something like that. I'm not a fan, but i'm sure they will clog up the sidewalk outside Newport and keep me from getting into Chipotle for dinner. Which ticks me off... At least maybe the band isn't the screaming, devilish, evil type of band and their fans...So when I say excuse me, they'll actually be pleasant this time.

Kanye

I do like Kanye's idea of blending different genre's of music. I think he is one of the only people that can do it...successfully.

2008 Grammy's

I noticed the Grammy's were on. I didn't watch, but I did look to see that someone I didn't recognize won like 30 Grammy's, Whatever. I know Kanye should have won, and he did. Maroon 5 won one, alright not bad. But who the heck is Amy Winehouse, I'm sorry i guess i dont listen to the radio enough?!?! or I just maybe not watch enough t.v. But I do both of those so.. how do I not know who this is. Oh well, here's what she sounds like.... Her speech was hilarious on Youtube, she didn't know what to say, she looked stupid. She is all tat'd up, she's british! Not what I expected... here's her song Rehab.
